A large brick stupa, originally 2nd century BCE, enlarged and reinforced repeatedly. ASI excavated in 1973-74 and 2001-06 and found an inscription reading "Devapala Rajasya Sujata Griha", placing the final building phase in the 9th century CE under the Pala king Devapala. An Ashoka pillar once stood here; it was partly quarried for building material in the 1800s and later moved to Bodh Gaya (1956). It is an ASI Monument of National Importance.
