Janaki Sthan Mandir, Sitamarhi
Temple · Sita (Janaki) · Sitamarhi, Bihar
Many scholars and religious figures identify this as the place where Sita appeared from the earth...
A temple of Sita in the Ramanuja Sampradaya, established in 1599 on land donated by King Narpati Singh of Raj Darbhanga, older than the Janaki Temple at Janakpur in Nepal. The sacred tank Urvija Kund, held to have been built by King Janaka at the place where Sita appeared, lies to its south; its water is considered sacred and healing. Succession in the temple follows a guru-disciple lineage.
